The Tapflo TC Series intelligent pumps are based on standard Tapflo air-operated diaphragm pumps equipped with a LEAP® Technology power supply. LEAP® Technology is designed for high pressure and ultra low flow applications.
LEAP® Technology or "Low Energy Air Pump Technology" is a patented technology used in diaphragm pumps to reduce the minimum operating air pressure by reducing the internal losses and friction found in standard diaphragm pumps.
LEAP® Technology uses a unique indirect system to automatically detect the position of the diaphragm shaft, controlling the movement of the diaphragm automatically.
An extensive testing procedure showed that it took a lot of energy to overcome the resistance in the pump. Another important issue was that when the air pumps were dropped to lower air pressure in an attempt to save energy, the pumps simply stalled.
